Riah Knight was born in 1996 in Sussex, England. Of dual heritage British Romani descent, RIAH grew up surrounded by the Romani activist movement through which she was both politicised and given a platform to perform.
RIAH plays jazz inspired, downtempo, original soul. Characterised by her sultry vocals, evocative lyrics and a twist of folk. She has been writing and performing as a singer/songwriter for the last twelve years and has performed at institutions such as the Notre Dame and the British Houses of Parliament, the Brighton Dome and the London Roundhouse.
Riah is currently working at the Maxim Gorki Theatre in Berlin, where she is employed as an actress/musician and where her musical material is currently being performed. She plays in their opening show of 2017 – ‘Roma Armee’ – and their opening show of 2018 – ‘Yes but No’ – both of which have received rave reviews for their music, with Berlin critics calling her the “blonde Amy Winehouse”.
In April 2018 she was invited to develop a performance piece and music for the 1st Roma Biennale ‘COME OUT NOW!’ organised by RomaTrial in cooperation with the Maxim Gorki Theatre and Studio Я.
A 2018 London Roundhouse Resident Artist alumni Riah continues to perform as a solo musician and is working on her debut release between tours and performances.

Riah May Knight wurde 1996 in Sussex, England, geboren. Mit ihrem Hintergrund als Britin und Romnja wuchs RIAH inmitten der Roma-Bürgerrechtsbewegung auf, durch die sie politisiert wurde und eine Plattform für ihre Arbeit erhielt.
RIAH spielt Jazz Inspired, Downtempo und Original Soul, geprägt von ihrem heißblütigen Gesang, ihren stimmungsvollen Texten und einem Hauch von Folk. Im April 2018 wurde sie eingeladen, ein Performance-Stück und die Musik für die Erste Roma-Biennale „COME OUT NOW!“ zu entwickeln, die durch RomaTrial in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Maxim Gorki Theater und Studio Я organisiert wurde.
Als Alumni-Residentin des London Roundhouse vom Jahr 2018 tritt RIAH weiterhin als Solomusikerin auf und arbeitet an ihrer ersten Veröffentlichung zwischen Tourneen und Auftritten.
